Career Cafe Updates

Another great day of Career Cafe.  During the month of February, we have hosted a school psychologist, a former Blues Hockey Player (currently the Director of Alumni for the St. Louis Blues), a professional cake decorater and a pharmacist.  The students are absolutely loving the opportunity to learn more about careers during their lunch.  We still have many great speakers to come including a doctor, a fire fighter, an emergency room nurse, a glass artist/professor, an attorney, and more.  Thank you to all of our fantastic speakers!

25 Acts of Kindness

Our 25 Acts of Kindness for 25 Years of Character Education Event is off and running.  From February 1st-February 25th, students are being asked to demonstrate 25 Acts of Kindness at home, at school, and in the community.  On the 25th Anniversary of Character Education (February 25th), students will bring their sheets to the commons and receive a "Give Kindness, Get Kindness" pencil.  In addition to our school wide event, students are learning in guidance this month about the importance of being kind even in difficult situations (students acted out various scenarios through role play).  Finally, students learned about "Netiquette" or being kind on line, through text messaging, e-mails, on line gaming, etc.).  Ask your fifth grader to share what they are learning this month at FGC about kindness.
