Career Cafe

We hosted two fun presenters yesterday at the FGC for our third Career Cafe of second semester.  For the 4th period lunch students, we had Ms. Kathy Birchfield, a realtor.  During 5th period lunches, we hosted a Chef, Mr. Ashok Nageswaran.  Students had lots of fun looking at home listings around the country and "guessing the spices" from around the world.  Thank you Ms. Birchfield and Mr. Nageswaran!

Happy Valentine's Day!

We had an amazing Valentine's Day at the FGC!  This morning each team was part of a powerful interactive lesson in the gym about not bullying and how to rise above bullies put on by Jenny Edwards and Rise Martial Arts.  In the afternoon, we had class parties filled with fun and friends.

Career Cafe

Last week, we hosted an Art Museum Curator from the St. Louis Art Museum and an entrepreneur in the equestrian fashion industry for our second Career Cafe of the semester.  Thank you very much to our fantastic speakers, Melissa Wolfe and Audra Harrold.

School Counselors, Helping Students Reach for the Stars!!

This week is National School Counseling Week.  The theme this year is "School Counselors, Helping Students Reach for the Stars!"  As a counselor, my goal is to help my students reach their own personal, emotional, social, and academic goals.  When guiding my students, I like to help them formulate goals that are important to them, visual, and concrete.  One of my favorite quotes on goal setting is by Tony Robbins.  He said, "Setting goals is the first step in turning the invisible into the visible."  Our kids need to be able to visualize their goals, create an action plan for reaching them, and learn how to be resilient when faced with obstacles.  What "star" can I help you reach this year?
