About Me

Hello, my name is Amy Balsavias and I am thrilled to be continuing at the FGC during the 2017-2018 school year (our fifth year in operation). Prior to coming to the Fifth Grade Center, I was a part time counselor at Spoede Elementary for four years.  I have also taught Kindergarten, Second, and Third Grade in both Missouri and Florida.

I am married and have three beautiful children (a junior, an eighth grader, and a second grader). We live in Creve Coeur with our two favorite dogs Milo and Macy.  Our family loves to travel and spend time outdoors together. In my personal spare time (when I am not driving my kids all over town), I enjoy reading, shopping, and walking the dogs.

A few of my favorite things include:
Food: Salad
Drink: San Pellegrino Sparkling Water and Fresh Smoothies
Dessert: Dark Chocolate
Color: Yellow
Place: The Beach

I graduated from Mizzou with an undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Education.  Several years later, I received my master’s degree in School Counseling (K-12) from Missouri Baptist University.

My personal goal as a school counselor is to provide a warm and safe environment where each student can learn to love who they are, appreciate each others' differences, and learn coping skills needed for everyday life.  Each day is a new beginning and a new opportunity for personal growth.  At the FGC we want each student to know that we care about them as a person and that they are a valued member of our school family. Welcome to the Fifth Grade Center, it is going to be a great year!
