Our Red Ribbon Week is coming to an end.  Today was "Dream of a Drug Free World" (Pajama Day). Tomorrow is "Say Boo to Drugs."  I can't wait to see our students in their costumes. Parents...please come and join us for the parade and parties.  It is always a fun day at the FGC!

Mix It Up Day at Lunch

Today we recognized National Mix It Up Day at Lunch through our Red Ribbon Week festivities. The theme for the day was "Don't Get Mixed Up in Drugs".  Students wore mis mis-matched clothes of different colors and seasons and participated in meaningful discussion during "Mix It Up Lunch" regarding making healthy choices and saying "no" to dangerous drugs and substances.  We finished each lunch shift by taking a Drug Free Pledge and having each table sign a red ribbon for our banner. Tomorrow's theme is "Be on a Drug Free Team".  Don't forget to wear your favorite team jersey or shirt.

Due' Time for a Cure

So many fun events during the month of October at the FGC (and within the community), but one of my favorites of the entire year is our Service Learning Project for Siteman Cancer Center.  Our amazing and talented Art Teacher, Emily Taylor, leads this for our school every year and each and every year it continues to grow.  Students make courage stones and notes for those undergoing cancer treatments, make silk screened tshirts to sell both at our school as well as others, necklaces, buttons, and much more.  All proceeds go to benefit Siteman Caner Center and the work they do towards finding a cure.  Our "Pink" Day this year was October 16th.  Here are just some of the photos that represent the tremendous power that we hold as we come together collectively to work towards a common cause.  It is Due' Time for a Cure!
